If Japan had won at Khalkin Gol in 1939, Many Soviet forces would have been deployed east rather than west, perhaps giving Germany an even bigger advantage.

If every campaign the Germans initiated worked optimally, sure, the Germans could have won WWII. The Germans were pretty darned lucky to get the results they got. There are a lot of what-if scenarios where there Germans would have done done better, and if enough of those scenarios had played out the Germans maybe could have won.

We also need to remember that an entire Japanese army was obliterated in a matter of weeks by the Red army in the closing months of ww2. The soviets took Manchuria in legit 3 weeks. The only way Japan wins if they invade Soviet Union at the same time as Germany, or Germany wins operation barbarossa.

Dec 22, 2011 · The question was about the 'second front' not about Lend Lease. That's a separate conversation. But yes, the Soviets could have won without Lend Lease as well. It would have taken longer and more lives would have been lost, but the Germans would have inevitably lost since the majority of Lend Lease was available from 1943 on.
