Jun 21, 2024 · The USGS Washington Water Science Center provides water resource information. You’ll find information about Washington’s rivers and streams, as well as groundwater, water quality, and cutting-edge water research.

The USGS collects data continuously at almost 400 streamflow, reservoir, water-quality, meteorological and groundwater sites in Washington State. Most of these data are transmitted via satellite and posted on-line in near real time.

The USGS in Washington State currently collects data for about 300 streamflow, reservoir, water-quality, meteorological, and groundwater sites, of which about 240 have satellite telemetry for real-time data, and another 20 have other communications equipment for near-realtime data.

The Washington Water Science Center is located in Tacoma, Washington. We also carry out research and monitoring from our field offices in Ferndale, Kennewick, and Spokane. Our staff consists of scientists, technicians, and support personnel who are committed to providing accurate and timely information to Washington and the Nation.

The USGS Washington Water Science Center currently operates over 380 data-collection sites in Washington. The sites collect surface water, groundwater, water quality and meteorological data that are available in real time.

The water-quality database for Washington contains data and information on chemical, physical, and biological properties of ground water from about 9,336 ground-water sites in Washington.
