The spire of Wakefield Cathedral, at a height of approximately 247 feet, is the tallest church in Yorkshire and still dominates the city skyline, drawing pilgrims and visitors to the cathedral.

The cathedral is open from 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday, 09:30-16:00 Saturday and 08:00-16:00 on Sunday. There are no costs associated with visiting the cathedral however donations are greatly appreciated to support the history, heritage and fabric of our wonderful building.

Jan 31, 2025 · Wakefield Cathedral’s Eco Group brings together members of the congregation, volunteers and staff to work towards making the cathedral a greener place to work and worship. The Eco Group achieves its goals through a variety of activities, including partnerships with local community groups.

Wakefield Cathedral hosts services seven days a week, 365 days a year, from Morning Prayer to Midnight Mass and everything in between. Our opening times are: Monday to Friday – 08:00-16:00
