Jan 11, 2025 · A little bit of an odd question for this forum, but . . . I'm in Lafayette trying to listen to WWL 870 AM. There is a warble in the audio at my QTH. So I changed to a SDR in Mississippi. Same warble only not as bad. Q: do you hear a warble on 870 WWL? Thanks

Sep 3, 2005 · It has done an excellent job of following WWL-870 as well as some HF traffic from that area. I can compare it to the Grundig YB400PE which was my first SSB-capable radio. The Sony's SSB reception is much clearer and it has excellent sensitivity for receiving the lower powered signals you'll usually find using SSB.

There are numerous discussions about the "warbler" online, and the conclusion reached by some is that Cuba's Radio Reloj on 870 may be the cause due to transmitter problems. You can often hear WWL and Radio Reloj together if you tune to 870 khz.

Sep 1, 2005 · For example - listening to WWL 870 from New Orleans on both the Sony and Grundig - while I can hear it on both radios, the Sony has less fading and interference due to the way sync detection works. Unfortunately they're rumoured to be discontinued, and will soon become harder to find.
