The West Somerset Railway (WSR) is a 22.75-mile (36.6 km) heritage railway line in Somerset, England. The freehold of the line and stations is owned by Somerset Council.

So Great Western Railway approached the WSR to temporarily store two of their 'Castle' HST sets, which the railway acknowledged and allowed. Add to that, one set was allowed to roster on the WSR's timetable, running up and down the line.

Nov 9, 2023 · Another rapid car dash over to Minehead on the WSR. Heading in to the station, is the GWR "Castle" HST set comprising of power cars 43 042 "Tregenna Castle", 43 162 "Caerhayes Castle" & Castle set GW03, forming the 5Z12 Laira T & RSMD to Minehead WSR, where the set will be stored.

Dec 31, 2024 · THE STORED Great Western Railway Castle Class HST set currently located at the Severn Valley Railway was pressed into service for a special running weekend at the railway during the weekend of November 16/17.
