WRC 537 vs FEA - Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering
Nov 29, 2018 · The deficiency says, "Load case 1: WRC 537: g = rm / t < 5 (ratio not covered by WRC 537; rm / t = 5 used.)" Upon reading WRC 537, I believe that it is due to the gamma ratio being less than 5 which falls outside of the data range. Compress must be using gamma = 5 to calculate the WRC 537 stress because in the vessel report there is a WRC 537 ...
WRC 537 - Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering - Eng-Tips
Oct 18, 2018 · WRC 537 (and it's predecessor WRC 107) are for a rectangle or cylinder on a head or cylinder for which there is no penetration. Hence, the stresses calculated do not include the stresses due to internal pressure. For starters - definitely verify the pressure design.
WRC 537 interpretation - Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering
Jan 19, 2018 · Hi to everyone, can anyone tell me if there is any restriction for WRC 537 application in case for external attachments (for example Cross plates) welded directly to the cylindrical pressure vessel and w/o pad reinforcement (see attached file for attachment design and welded side has marked in...
WRC 537 Radial Load Sign (+/-) - Eng-Tips
Jan 19, 2022 · WRC 537 conducts six independent stress analyses (for each load) and then superimposes all of the six results on top of each other to get a total stress at each of the four quarter points. An inwards radial load causes compressive stress, reducing the magnitude of Tensile stresses caused by Moments.
WRC 297 - Boiler and Pressure Vessel engineering - Eng-Tips
Jun 24, 2004 · WRC 107 and 297 are based on different methods of analysis. 297 considers the relative stiffness of the nozzle as well as the cylindrical shell (297 considers only cylinders attached to cylinders). The bulletin 297 determines the stress at only 4 cardinal points at the nozzle-shell junction.

May 31, 2011 · WRC Bulletin 537 Precision Equations and Enhanced Diagrams For Local Stresses In Spherical and Cylindrical Shells Due To External Loadings For Implementation of WRC Bulletin 107 Bulletin 537 is intended to facilitate implementation of the widely required and used relations found in the March 1979 Revision of WRC 107 for local stresses in ...
Rigging Analysis : Tail Lug OverStress - Codeware: COMPRESS
Sep 12, 2017 · Sounds like the lug is supported (welded) on 3 sides and that a local stress analysis of the shell is not required. Nor would the analysis using WRC 107/537 or EN 13445 be appropriate for this because these analyses do not consider the effect of adjacent structural support (nor their stresses).
Rigid attachment or nozzle? WRC 107 - Eng-Tips
Jan 4, 2019 · WRC 107/537 does not cover hollow attachments in cylinders (i.e. nozzles). You need to use judgement/experience to decide if a nozzle in a cylinder is rigid and reinforced enough to be considered a solid attachment. Otherwise use another method such as WRC 297, EN 13445-3 section 16 or FEM.
