Jul 11, 2007 · Hi, I heard that the Czech VZ24 Rifle have slightly bigger barrel than the regular Mausers. Would this effect what kind of ammo I can use? I shot 'HotShot 8x57 Mauser 139 Grain SP', and it didnt have any problems so far.

Jul 30, 2003 · I have 2 VZ-24s and am keeping the one with the nice stock as a collector piece, but taking the other VZ-24 w/a crappy stock and dropping it into a nice laminate stock w/a thumbhole for hunting. Now would the price for buying a bent bolt from a K98 or another variant be extremely high as far as headspacing?

May 18, 2005 · It's more likely that your VZ24 was a Romanian contract rifle. I had one with no crest. I don't know about it being a Russian capture though (it'll have a "X" proof stamped on top of the reciever somewhere)... I haven't seen a Romanian VZ24 yet, in person, that had the Romanian crest intact. The rifle I had didn't have a scrubbed crest either.

Nov 9, 2009 · Your rifle is the half brother of the vz-23, commonly called a "transitional vz-24". how many of the parts on your rifle are serial #ed ? It will have a curve crested ZavodnyBrno crest and is among the earliest of the vz-24's(first 100,000). If it still has many of the original #ed parts make sure you don't D&T it or sporterize in any form.

Apr 1, 2003 · A good shot with good ammo should be able to get a VZ/24 to shoot about 4 inch groups or slightly better at 100 yards. If you are using Turkish or poor ammo its difficult to judge accuracy. It comes down to, is it the rifle, or the ammunition thats at fault. Get some ammo (if you have not already) that you know to be accurate.

Aug 18, 2003 · I don't know if anyone can say how long a rifle would have remain in storage before it was accepted by the Czech Army, but I wouldn't believe it would be very long. Since the Czech Army was in the process of re-arming after WW1 it seems likely thay would have been accepted as soon as possible.
