Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) is a VHF combat network radio (CNR) used by U.S. and allied military forces. In the CNR network, the SINCGARS’ primary role is voice transmission between surface and airborne command and control (C2) assets.

VRC-90 is one radio and one amp. VRC-92 is two radios, the VRC's amp & an Aux Amp. Source: am 94e for 1st BCT 10MTN. Only thing I can find is that adding 1 radio makes it a 90 running the configuration with 2 radios makes it an 89. It's listed in the SINGARS TM. It spells out the difference pretty clearly. You need to use the TM for inventories.
