Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country participate in the VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. The contest began in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth.

The VFW National Auxiliary is pleased to present this National art contest to introduce, encourage and recognize young artists with patriotism through art. Entries will be judged on patriotic theme and technique.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary is proud to present the national winners of the 2023–2024 Illustrating America art contest – a patriotic art contest for elementary and middle/junior high school students.

For more than 40 years, the Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest has been sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary. This scholarship continues to recognize high school-aged students whose art expresses patriotism. Nationwide, nearly 4,000 entries are submitted annually.

We are proud to present the top three Department (state) winners of the 2023–2024 VFW Auxiliary’s 3-Dimensional Patriotic Art Contest. Three-dimensional art was established as a separate contest in 2022.

A patriotic art contest for elementary and middle/junior high school students that encourages students’ artistic abilities and rewards their hard work. It’s fun to see how our youth see the world through their drawings and paintings.
