Jul 31, 2019 · There is no need to install any Microsoft DDK or SDK or any other Microsoft development kit. There is a freeware derivative, maintained by Uwe Sieber, named USBTreeView. Go there, download, unzip, and just run. It is only ~300 kilobytes.

Nov 25, 2021 · I adore NirSoft, but I have had issues with USBDeview where it won't see some USB mass storage devices (e.g. USB 3.0 HDD enclosure) and it often suffers from prolonged hangs. USBTreeView seems to cope better with all devices in my experience. –

Jan 19, 2021 · If you have a problem with USB devices, it is advisable to establish a map of PC ports to port numbers in USBTreeView (and different host controllers) first, by sticking handwritten lables on PC panels/ports, as harrymc suggests. Then you will know which one of devices fails by examining port status in the viewer.

Feb 5, 2018 · Unfortunately, the USBTreeView does it too fast. Alternatively, you can restart the entire hub, it takes long enough time to turn VBUS off on its downstream ports. If Uwe doesn't have his source code open, you will need to go to Microsoft SDK for main USBView source code, and figure out how to issue the port disable/enable commands to driver.
