Union Pacific 3985 is a four-cylinder articulated 4-6-6-4 "Challenger"-type steam locomotive built in July 1943 by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) of Schenectady, New York, for the Union Pacific Railroad.

Union Pacific (UP) #3985 was one of 105 4-6-6-4 Challenger type locomotives owned and operated UP. Classified as a 4664-4 by the railroad, the locomotive was built by the American Locomotive Company in July 1943 with builder’s number 70174.

Steam Locomotive No. 844 is the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad. It was delivered in 1944. A high-speed passenger engine, it pulled such widely known trains as the Overland Limited, Los Angeles Limited, Portland Rose and Challenger.
