Sep 4, 2015 · An unusual lake and nature spot known as Unger Park hasn't received much notice – up to now. However, thanks to the Meramac Greenway Trail, and activity at Fenton's nearby St. Louis Soccer Park, Unger Park is getting a host of new visitors.

The trailhead at George Winter Park is located near the intersection of Highway 141 and Highway 30. Parking is available in Unger Park, Fenton City Park, Winter Park and Minnie Ha Ha Park. If you live nearby, you may be able to walk to this greenway.

Unger Park is included in the Meramec River Greenway. The Great Flood of 1993 did extensive damage to the park and the road has been closed at the lake parking lot. The boat ramp is no longer usable to the public. Following the flood, about 25 properties were acquired in the area between Interstate 44 and the river.

Unger is a beautiful and very secluded park in the southwest part of the St. Louis area. This shorter wooden course is great for less experienced players who want some fun but not too hard challenges in a wooded environment.
