USS Widgeon was the name of more than one vessel of the U.S. Navy: USS Widgeon (AM-22) , a minesweeper in commission from 1918 to 1922 and from 1923 to 1947 that saw service in World War I and World War II .

Ready for sea on 15 December 1955 Widgeon a unit of the Pacific Fleet Mine Force sailed on 3 January 1956 for visits to San Francisco and Long Beach Calif. The new minesweeper operated out of the latter port until 29 January at which time she shifted to San Diego to undergo shakedown training.

Dec 25, 2018 · On the morning of December 7, a quiet Sunday, USS Widgeon was stationed at the Pearl Harbor naval base, berthed near the submarine base. Crewmen grabbed rifles and machine guns and fired on the incoming attackers. Although their fire didn’t result in any downed Japanese aircraft, Widgeon did survive the two-hour attack undamaged.
