Sep 4, 2020 · I decided that my next scratch build will be USCGC KUKUI (WAK 186) in 1:96th scale. The KUKUI was an ALAMOSA class cargo ship; built to the U.S. Maritime Commission C1-M-AV1 design. KUKUI was originally commissioned as USS COLQUIT (AK-174) on 22 Sept 1945 with a USCG crew.

Dec 22, 2020 · Trying to decide the length of the baseboard. Here KUKUI is sitting on a 36" long base for CGC INGHAM (WHEC 35). Views: 49 KUKUI is sitting on the 24" long base for CGC DALLAS (WHEC 716). Views: 40 I decided on a 24" long base board. I cut some temporary cradles from foam insulation and centered them on my 24" long cutting mat.

Apr 17, 2018 · That's the USCGC KUKUI, a C1-M-AV1 cargo ship originally commissioned as USS COLQUIT (AK-174). KUKUI served the USCG from 24 Sept 1945 to 29 Feb 1972. KUKUI's mission was to supply, construct, and repair the LORAN Stations in the Pacific. Here's a link to her 1948 Cruise Report.
