Mar 14, 2008 · I can see how some people may think that Y frame is fugly. Some people really dig them. After borrowing a friends YSL400 for a race, I was very pleased...and I still refer hardtails. I do hate Trek's loud graphix and earlier disc mounts though.

Jan 7, 2016 · I believe trek came up with the "y" bike design in 1993, which was after the mantis. However, I don't remember any other bikes at that time with a similar suspension design. The sweet spot design, while a URT, is quite different than the Y bikes suspension.
