This temperature chart shows the different solders that are available and their melting temperatures. Divided into lead-based and lead-free types, it is a useful reference for engineers and buyers. A typical solder such as 60/40, with 60 % tin, and 40 % lead, has a melting point approximately between 183 °C to 188 °C.

The resulting temperature settings are: Tin/Lead: 233°C + 100°C = 333°C; SAC 305: 270°C + 100°C = 370°C; SN100: 282°C + 100°C = 382°C; As you can see, switching from tin/lead solder to lead-free solder requires a higher optimal temperature setting.

Recommended contact time with the wave is dependent on wave configuration, pot temperature, alloy type and thermal mass of the assembly. *Temperatures can start as low as 240°C depending on the application and alloy being used.

Aug 24, 2022 · Typically, the solder pot temperature should be set to about 80-150° degrees Fahrenheit above the melting point of the solder in the pot. Whether your solder pot is an analog (dial-controlled) one or a digital model, it’s best not to run it at >85% of the maximum temperature for extended periods.

The temperature of your solder pot should be set to run at about 100-150° degrees Fahrenheit above the liquid temperature of the solder that you are intending to use in the solder pot.
