TI-990 programmers panel The TI-990 was a series of 16-bit minicomputers sold by Texas Instruments (TI) in the 1970s and 1980s. It served as a replacement for TI's earlier minicomputer systems, the TI-960 and the TI-980.

The TI-990/12 is a Schottky TTL based processor with memory mapping that supports 2M bytes, workspace caching, hardware floating point, extended mode instructions and writeable control store. The TMS9900 was designed as a single-chip version of the TI 990 minicomputer series, much like the Intersil 6100 was a single chip PDP-8 (12 bits), and the Fairchild 9440 and Data General mN601 were both one-chip versions of Data General's Nova.
