On the murals of the Hatshepsut temple at Deir el-Bahri, the King and Queen of Punt are depicted along with their retinue. Due to her unusual appearance, the Queen was sometimes hypothesized to have had advanced steatopygia [39] or elephantiasis. [40]

The land was already understood by that time as a semi-mythical realm in Egyptian literature and features in the famous Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor.

Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most remarkable female pharaohs, orchestrated a bold expedition to Punt that would come to define her extraordinary legacy. Initially rising from queen to co-regent, and ultimately to independent ruler, she defied ancient political norms.

Queen Hatshepsut (reigned c. 1472–1458 bc) made a voyage to Punt and had the details of the journey recorded on the walls of her temple at Dayr al-Bahrī. Voyages to the “Divine Land” eventually became routine.

Just as Immanuel Velikovsky argued in 1952 (Ages in Chaos), the mysterious Land of Punt, to which Hatshepsut launched a famous expedition, was truly the land of Israel; and her great funerary monument at Deir el Bahri, to the west of Thebes, contains an actual description of the Queen’s journey to the Holy Land.
