A palantír ([paˈlanˌtiːr]; pl. palantíri) is one of several indestructible crystal balls from J. R. R. Tolkien 's epic-fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings.

In Peter Jackson 's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (extended editions included), the palantíri seen are those of Orthanc and Minas Ithil, depicted as roughly the size of a softball, with the smooth appearance of quartz.
