Jan 12, 2021 · Seems to me like major problem is damage. In 2D games I noticed you can't get all that much damage without meter, few hits and opponent drops. When you have meter, you can get some hefty damage. But in Tekken, they get pretty high damage either way. Some average or above average combo damage without meter and absurdly high damage with meter.

Aug 9, 2022 · 2D fighters in tekken must feel like that. Everybody is playing by a given, implicitly agreed set of rules. Everybody trains for these rules and adapt their playstyle to those rules and then suddenly somebody just makes up a new rule…. That’s 2d in tekken.

Jul 26, 2024 · Though King of Fighter might work (DOA also made some guests from KoF and they work pretty good in 3D as 3D char). Probably this could work for other 2D Fighters too, but then they need to rework the 2D chars to a 3D char.

If anything I feel 2d is heavily outclassed in a string heavy game, and the dumb hopkicks which are way too OP. And yes, Akuma and Geese have big damage combos, but those are locked behind bars...

May 3, 2023 · Even DOA6 added 2d figther as 3d version, and while the game made many mistakes the 3d versions of Mai and Kula are exceptional. If they add anything in 2d i would hope for something where it's reasonable it's 2d.
