TECTA offers professional development and support to teachers working with children ages birth to 12 years. Any provider who works with children in a Tennessee licensed and regulated program is eligible for the majority of TECTA services.

The Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) orientation sessions offer 30 hours of training in each of five specialty areas. The Orientations are fun workshop-style trainings that cover the basics of caring for children in a group setting.

Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) financially supports early childhood providers taking college courses to earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or an Early Childhood Degree or Certificate.

What do I need to do to get a TECTA scholarship? The eligibility requirements are: work in child care and have attended a TECTA Orientation. If you meet the eligibility requirements, register for course and complete the TECTA Financial Support Packet.

TECTA provides tuition assistance for early childhood providers who have completed a TECTA Orientation, work in a licensed early childhood program, and are taking courses toward the CDA or an early childhood certificate or degree.

To earn the CDA with TECTA’s assistance, you must take 2 specific Early Childhood Education college courses at Southwest. Once you complete two of the four courses, you will be assigned to a CDA mentoring cohort.
