I believe the 20, 21 and 22 all have the same sloped front and use the same basic guard shape (are interchangeable) but each has a slightly different guard lip shape. I understand that the very last 22s (late 74) have the guard lip that gives the most clearance.

Nov 7, 2008 · At the moment i have some ae86 vented discs up front with what i believe to be the standard calipers, everything else is ta22 stuff. so my question is what are the differences between the ra28 strut,hub and backing plate when compared to the ta22?

Oct 29, 2008 · TA22 late series, and TA23 are both the same as the RA23 and RA28. It was very rare to get the different ratios. Check the build plate of the donor car, and in the Trans/Axle section, it should say something like: The T292 part is the important one. The 29 indicates it is the normal 4.1 ratio.

The RA23 and RA28 had a more distinctive bulge in the bonnet, or hood, which was lacking in the TA22 or RA20 Coupe and in the TA27 and RA25 Liftback Celica. The TA22 Celica also had removable vents mounted in the bonnet, which the RA23 and RA28 lacked.

RA23 is newer, and some TA22's (the early ones Click here for TA22 info) have the fuel filler behind the numberplate not on the side. Also the Diff on the RA23 might be bigger? (not sure on that one)

Apr 7, 2008 · I am interested if anyone has a few good suggestions on which new era brake parts should be used to replace or update my 1973 TA22 braking system. Which donor vehicle should I seek in the scrap-yards for these parts if not which new parts.
