Sep 30, 2022 · To answer the question though, star removal EDIT can be done in linear or the first step after nonlinear. Get the stars out of the picture before you do anything to it. I am using the StarXterminator plugin and it works really well. You can do all the noise reduction in the linear stage, or do some of the noise reduction before and some after.

May 19, 2023 · A possibly better way to use this tool on first blush, is to first remove the stars from the final tiff image, apply AstroSharp, and then put back the stars. This eliminates the problem of small stars becoming blocky due to the sharpening, and from being shifted ever so slightly to the left, due I assume to the way the processing algorithm works.
