Star Assessments are short tests that provide teachers with personalized learning data for each student. Star tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust in difficulty to each answer students provide.

If the student has not taken a Star Reading test in the past 180 days, the student must answer a few simple practice questions to make sure the student understands how to answer them. Three or four possible answers are shown below each question.

Star Reading gives you access to an accurate set of data to inform your teaching and your children’s reading practice, including Reading age (in years and months), Zone of Proximal Development, Norm-Referenced Standardised Score, Percentile Rank and Scaled Score.

Students must be in grades K–12 in order to take the Star Math test. Students can only test within the current school year or subscription year. We recommend enabling "full screen" mode on your browser to ensure no scrolling is required.
