Many students learning English have difficulty with the distinction between /oo/ (a long vowel) and /ooh/ (a short vowel). In part, this is due to the way the words are spelled and the many variations in how they are pronounced. However, for some students the difficulty lies in how to differentiate the sounds through mouth shape.
