Of the 20 Phase IIa SP GP60's in the SP 9600-9619 series that Union Pacific inherited, two were retired from the roster (SP 9609 and 9619 were wrecked), leaving 18 to be repainted. Of those 18, UP relocated the as-delivered nose headlights up top between the numberboards (like all the SSW, DRGW and Speed Lettered GP60's) on 16 of them, filling ...

FYI - the "Power by the Mile" EMD/SP sticker was put on many of the units leased out through EMD including SP SD40R's, SD40T-2's, SD45T-2's, a few SD70M's and a lot of GP60's. These stickers start showing up on the subbases of these SP locos around late 1994 and early 95 or basically when the SD70M's arrive.
