I'm also giving sun elves some fire magic and changing their lore up a bit to explain that. As far as having more/less than other subraces, I was modeling the amount of added features off of the high elf and wood elf features.

The Forgotten Realms is the default story setting of D&D 5e. In 3.5 edition it was an optional setting. Snow Elves haven't been mentioned in any official books sonce 3.5 that is why they only have listings for 3.5 and 2nd edition. But if ot exosted in those versions of the setting it would reasonably exist in 5e.
