The sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository was the primary crime scene for the JFK assassination. Visitors will see historic images, news footage, artifacts and original evidentiary areas.

Finished in 1981, the exterior of the building was restored to its 1901 appearance and the first five floors were used for administrative and government functions. During this time, the top two floors, including the infamous sixth floor, remained empty.

Why is it called The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza? A sniper’s perch and rifle were found on the sixth floor of the building after the assassination of President Kennedy. The Museum’s core exhibit is housed on the sixth floor.

The historical exhibition on the sixth floor highlights the impact of Kennedy’s death on the nation and the world. Two key evidentiary areas on the sixth floor were restored to their 1963 appearance.
