Oct 22, 2010 · I think I got rid of all of the shields except one on a *.exe file. What I did was right click to get the properties dialog and then went to "Change Icon". In all cases, the original icon was shown. Choosing that icon eliminated the shield. So now I am down from about 20 "shield" icons to one and hopefully the icons will stay that way.

Feb 16, 2014 · Thanks. I reviewed this solution prior to posting. The elevated shortcuts solution removes the shield icon, and also removes the UAC function on the subject program. I am looking for a way to remove the shield image without removing UAC function. Do you know if the shield image is an ico file that can be replaced with a transparent ico file?

I haven't taken a look at the batch files in the tutorial you linked, yet. Option 3 offered, if none of the options worked, try MS FixIt... That was my first try, and it didn't remove the icon.

Aug 30, 2010 · Hi everyone, just wanted to know if it is possible to get rid of the UAC shield without disabling UAC, still want to run the application as admin, would creating Elevated Program Shortcut be the solution? I have this issue only with the Heroes of Newerth icon, I can run all my other programs as admin without having the shield on my icon. Any ideas?
