May 19, 2024 · It's more chunky than the MM200. The twisted lug and mixed finishing is distinctive but IMO also makes the Sumo less flexible. It can be a bit too much for some situations. I like the first gen MM200 (SPB077/70/83 etc) for this reason. It's also worth considering the King Turtles or Slim Turtles. I wear one way more often than the MM200 or Sumo.

Oct 10, 2021 · Wearing the Seiko SPB187 'MM200' today. I think this new MM200, along with the recent Willard and 62MAS reissues, are absolute design homeruns by Seiko. I think the proportions on these new models are great. With a 42mm diameter, combined with Seiko's typically ergonomic casework, makes this still quite palatable for more wrist sizes.

The King Seiko just puts the LM in its place, and the 5606 already is an upper class movement from that era, compared to the simple 17jewelers. So back in the day the King Seiko was a slightly downgraded GS with a GS movement. Today you get a slightly downgraded GS with a Presage movement. It’s not even high beat.

Sep 16, 2021 · Seiko’s lumibrite, oem sbdx017 dial and hands. Looks blue here because I’m hitting it with uv. Some of the best lume you’ll find! It simply kills my other modern Seiko divers for brightness and longevity. Apparently the lume is hand applied on these dials, you’ll see slight blotches, marks and variations in the lume. It’s a nice touch.

Dec 23, 2020 · Wearing my SPB079 again, the previous generation MM200/6159-reinterpretation. The recently released 2nd generation MM200s (SPB185/7) have been getting some buzz as of late. Indeed, I did manage to try a SPB187 on wrist at the local Seiko Boutique, and I have to say I am definitely a fan.

May 21, 2021 · The MM200 is my favorite Seiko as far as look and feel goes. This is my second go with it; as I previously owned the first gen baby Marine Master (which still stands, IMO, as the greatest watch for the money, especially when purchased pre-owned).
