May 20, 2024 · Jagger was one of a group of thugs who broke into Kelly’s in 1992, but when he attempted to try and protect the owner, Ruby, he got shot. As he recovered in the hospital, the cops wanted him to snitch on the rest of his gang but he refused. It’s there that he met Karen Wexler, who convinced him not to try and make a run for it.

John "Jagger" Cates arrived in Port Charles in 1992. He and some other gang members broke into Kelly's Dinner one night and beat up Ruby Anderson. Jagger was shot at by police as he tried to flee. Jagger and his two younger siblings, Michael "Stone" and Gina Cates, lived on the streets, since they were orphaned.
