Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey is a blend of two straight rye mash bills, aged 4 to 6 years in high-char American oak barrels. The first is a high-rye, which adds notes of cinnamon and clove, and the second, a low-rye, contributes notes of caramel, honey, and citrus peel.

Our spirit flows from a spring house, built in 1909, at Maryland's Sagamore Farm – naturally filtered spring water, fed from a limestone aquifer.

Sagamore Spirit Rye is Sagamore Spirit’s base-level rye whiskey that’s for now is contract distilled by MGP in Indiana (hence why the back label mentions that it was distilled in Indiana).

To create our signature spirit at Sagamore, we cook, ferment, and distill two different mash bills. The first is high in rye, with malted barley. The ratio of these ingredients produce flavors such as baking spices and fruit. The second mash bill is lower in rye, allowing corn and malted barely to play a larger role.
