The Silicon Valley BART extension (officially VTA's BART Silicon Valley Extension Program, [1] commonly known as BART Silicon Valley) is an ongoing effort to expand the Green and Orange Line service by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) into Santa Clara County via the East Bay from its former terminus at the Fremont station in Alameda County.

Phase I of the BART/VTA Silicon Valley Extension (SVBX) is a 10-mile, two station, exten-sion into Santa Clara County which begins at the Warm Springs/South Fremont station, proceeds through Milpitas, and ends in the Berryessa area of north San Jose. Expected to open in Summer 2018, here are some facts about the new SVBX stations and service.

VTA's BART Silicon Valley Phase II Extension (BSVII) Project is a six-mile, four-station extension of the regional BART system from Berryessa/North through downtown San José to the City of Santa Clara, serving 55,000 weekday riders.

The Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension (SVBX) project will be built on former Union Pacific freight railroad right-of-way, linking the future Warm Springs BART station in Fremont to Berryessa with an intermediate station adjacent to the existing VTA Montague light rail station in Milpitas.

The project includes design of three elevated platform stations and four below ground stations integrated with the line and tunnel segments’ structures. Additional structures include three pedestrian access bridges and two roadway bridges over BART.

The Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension (SVBX) Phase I project marks a significant ten (10 mile) expansion of the operational BART Heavy Rail System, linking Fremont’s Warm Springs station to San Jose’s Berryessa.

The overall SVBX Project is a 10-mile extension of BART service from the City of Fremont to the City of San Jose. Along with the Milpitas BART Station Campus, it will serve as a key local and regional connection to the high-tech, job-rich northwestern areas of Santa Clara County.
