Jan 5, 2013 · the rule of thumb for chinese SKS is that if the serial number is 7 digits, the first digit is the amount of years since 1956, in your case 2, so your chinese SKS should be a 1958 production. obviously there is more to it but that is the basic gst of it that works on a large number of chinese SKS.

Apr 3, 2021 · Arsenal 0223 is definitely an odd one. The first variation observed (like yours) has the 70 preceding the rectangle arsenal code and a one to two digit code after the arsenal marking followed by a six digit serial number. The most likely meaning of the 70 prefix is 1970 production.
