This fine garment is a Warsaw-tailored M36 style open collar tunic in gabardine, for an SS-Sturmbannführer of Sicherheitsdienst- SD. The tunic shows fine patina to the material, with no damage or mothing. The insignia are classic SD colored farb on the shoulderboards, with a stunning bullion sleeve eagle tailored stitched to the left sleeve.

Mar 1, 2023 · The jacket does appear to be a real postwar police tunic. The wartime Sommer style Pol. (Schutzpolizei) tunics had closed collars while the postwar tunics had open collars like this. Interior construction will help sort out the time period of the tunic itself.

The tunic is the four pocket, open collar style in field gray wool that was adopted by the SD as a less sinister alternative to the black SS uniform. The collar carries the blank right side tab which was worn by the SD instead of the standard SS runes tab.
