Apr 26, 2011 · I'm pretty sure these aren't even "real" olive green SAS smocks. The sewing is very sub-par. Two weeks in and already the threads on some of the velcro patches and the waist drawstring tunnel have already become undone to the point of some of needing serious repair in order to retain basic functionality.

Feb 19, 2018 · The SAS smock has always fascinated me but it took a while for me to settle on all the features I wanted. This is a more modernized version of the classic, and does not have the rear pockets. I needed it to be fairly inexpensive (Turned out to be $70 shipped), but quality enough to take a beating and be worth waxing and repairing.

Apr 1, 2010 · Gents, I have had several so-called SAS windproof smocks over the years (there's actually no such thing as an "SAS" smock - that's a colloquialism - there are just two different types of Brit military windproof smock, one that has rank epaulettes and wire in the hood to shape over bulky winter headwear (the Royal Marines use them) and the others are used by the Army SOF and anyone else who ...

Jun 4, 2019 · Primarily, the smock is a European concept and in particular, used by Commonwealth nations. I got my first SAS smock in 1989 in a trade for a poncho liner during an exercise in Belgium. Its use as an issue garment has traditionally been restricted to Special Forces yet several nations have adopted it for general issue in one form or another.

Dec 19, 2011 · I have had both the M65 (my fathers from WWII and mine from the my tour in the Army) and a SAS Smock. Even though the smock has more pockets and is more functional I prefer the M65. The reason is I am broad in the shoulder area. The SAS Smock seems to have smaller armholes and I can't layer real well because it binds in the armpit.
