GALIL SAR: Reweld or New Receiver? | AK Rifles
Sep 18, 2024 · I picked up correct ARM and SAR barrels with a 1/7 twist from Apex. Then bought 4 "80%" Galil receivers from Tortort, which I used the Childers drill jig to complete. Bought a bunch of surplus IMI mags, a small and large pad bipod and carry handles for the ARMs along with some bayo lugs for my SARs.

Feb 5, 2012 · Everything for them is expensive. Original OEM mags? $80. US trigger group to meet 922r? $500. Gunsmithing? $500 to change a barrel for less work then a AK smith charges $200 for. Optics and ergos suck.

May 20, 2023 · I hit the easy button and built my two ARM and SAR rifles on Tortort's excellent 80% receivers, unfortunately they are not an option anymore. Thanks to yet more .gov infringement on our rights. My welding or rewelding skills are just not there yet, for those like me I would highly recommend Tortort's 100% Galil receivers.
