Aug 12, 2012 · So I was researching the mono box, and saw that Help! and Rubber Soul include the "original 1965 stereo mixes" in addition to the mono mixes. According to Wikipedia these original stereo mixes were replaced by updated stereo mixes in 1986 by George Martin for the first CD releases because he wasn't happy with the original 60s stereo mixes.

What I really hope for is a remix that will make everyone happy, a SDE containing the remix, AAA (AAD for the CD SDE) Mono disc/LP, 2 discs of outtakes/alternative tracks and a Bluray.

Apr 10, 2006 · I was under the impression that the only East Coast version of Rubber Soul with echo/reverb consisted of the following matrix numbers: ST-1-2442-W8#2 & ST-2-2442-W14#1. However, I found out today that this isn't necessarily the case.

Mar 20, 2017 · Agreed, the 2014 Rubber Soul is excellent. Almost all those 2014 mono remasters are superb. The only possible exception is Side 1 of Help! - but even that sounds fine until you turn it over and hear how much better the sound quality is on Side 2.

Oct 9, 2017 · I actually have an original U.K. mono pressing which I picked up for 30 bucks a few months ago. The comparison between this copy and the 2014 is pretty simple as far as I can hear; Rubber Soul has always been somewhat high ended to my ears but the original pressing actually has a smoother overall texture in this area than the 2014.

They are a bit of an oddity and have acquired a sort of mythical status because they have been deemed “loud” (as though that is somehow “better”) they do command a bit of a premium over other early UK Rubber Soul pressings. But they are not uncommon and thus condition still has the largest bearing on value.
