Rover banjo? Hi! So update from my 6 string banjitar sitch: I called my local music store and they have 2 rover banjos, one is a 4 string and the other is a 5 string.
Question: Does this banjo look worth buying? : r/banjo - Reddit
Sep 5, 2023 · I'm looking to start learning to play the banjo, and have been keeping my eyes peeled for a used open-back 5 string to buy. I saw this Rover RB20 come up for $175, and am wondering if anyone could help me understand whether it's in good shape/worth it? In the second picture, it looks like there's some rust on the brackets -- is that a red flag?

Mar 24, 2021 · I know you didn't solicit criticism, but straight chord strumming on the 5 string banjo with resonator is a very grating sound imo. Also I think you should sing with more gusto. But I'm glad there are people interested in playing irish music on the 5 string. There doesn't seem to be much out there on it so we sort of have to make it up.
Need help comparing beginner banjos (Gold Tone AC-1 Open …
Oct 11, 2017 · It did come from a music store owned by a banjo teacher so it may have been set up better than a mail order. He has since upgraded but keeps the Rover around as a backup. I can't speak on the gold tone. I have only played the CC-50. It is a good bit better beginner banjo than the Rover but cost nearly twice as much as the AC-1.

Learning the Banjo - Can I get some opinions on a few models?
Don’t by the Rover. I started with one and thought it was ok until I got my second banjo and realized it was a toy. The gold tone will be the cheapest, playable banjo out there. Can’t speak on the other two but I have owned several Gold-Tones and they have all been quality.

Saw this on my local craigslist. What can you guys do to help?
Nov 21, 2012 · link to craigslist post. If I wasn't young and broke with only a single rover banjo to my name (which actually really doesn't sound bad for a cheap open back) I would help this lady out.
Is Caraya a good brand for a first tenor banjo? : r/banjo - Reddit
Aug 14, 2016 · Is Caraya a good brand for a first tenor banjo? I'm finding this brand on eBay and they look nice but can't find much information online regarding their quality or sound. I'm also looking at the Rover and SX tenors (19-fret) which I'm finding a lot of mixed reviews on, but they'll both be about $50 cheaper because of the shipping on the Caraya.
