ANNOUNCEMENT: OpenRocket 24.12 beta 1 is now available for …
Jul 14, 2015 · Here is a bug I've just recently noticed in 23.09 and which isn't fixed in the beta. On a Mac, if dark mode is enabled, printing the design info places a dark background behind a portion of the graphic of the rocket in the generated PDF (as shown below using the included example model rocket file). Ideal Stability of a Rocket - Model Rocketry Forums
Jul 1, 2013 · for example here is a model with a 4.36 caliber of stability. all three plots are showing an 8 mph wind (coming from the right). The first plot is launched straight up (launch angle=0) the next plot shows the rocket aimed downwind (LA= -10). Finally aiming the rocket +10 degrees into the wind is in the 3rd plot. Jan 10, 2025 · Balsa Machining Service 3" School Rocket - best value in MPR rocketry. Basic 29mm powered kit is $34 - fully optioned 5' rocket with payload bay and rail buttons is under $60. How to make my rocket lighter? - Rocketry Forum
Jan 27, 2025 · As part of my engineering project we have to build a rocket that carries an egg, the problem we are now running into is the weight. Everything is so heavy, the 2.6in diameter x 14.2 in cardboard tube 30 g, 30g c6-5, 17 g for the fins and the nose cone weighs around 25g which is 3d printed. The...

Aug 8, 2022 · FWIW: The best way, IMO, is to start with one of the Open Rocket Examples, save it to your directory with a new name, and then start modifying it. Measure the parts, weigh the parts and then input the data. You'll start building a database of rocket simulations made by @Frausing and can start using those as your baselines.
Rocket Fin Rules | Rocketry Forum - Model Rocketry Forums
Jul 27, 2011 · The above rule of thumb applies to the 'average' rocket with conventional configuration, probably with a length-to-diameter ratio around 10 or 12. You can locate the center of gravity of an already-built rocket by prepping it for launch (motor, wadding, chute, electronics, etc, all loaded in place) and balancing it on your finger to locate the ...
OpenRocket: Understanding simulation plots - Rocketry Forum
Nov 6, 2012 · From that I'd say that the rocket first flies normally, but then becomes unstable and does a somersault while still going upwards. The "oscillation" you see is the rocket turning over the 180 degree AOA to the other side. OpenRocket computations are not reliable at such large angles of attack, so you shouldn't trust the way it does the somersault.
