Interesting to note from the rigpix website, it appears the Pro-2004 manufactured in 1986 was the first RadioShack base station capable of receiving the Mil Air band and cost $400.

Sorta like the difference between a car with an automatic transmission (which you might call "point and pray") and a car with stick shift (which you might call "skill development, or actually driving") Come to think of it, analog watches still work pretty well too.

Jul 3, 2023 · The scanner does not go down below 796 (RigPix Database - GRE/GRECOM - PSR-600) and it is a simulcast system. All frequencies are well bellow the range of the scanner according to the RR chart. Even though you are close to a tower, a second tower with more power output or elevation could cause distortion.
