This Model Five should make a dandy squirrel gun, or just a good all-around twenty-two for plinking, informal target shooting, and small game and varmint hunting. It is also available chambered for the .22 Magnum cartridge for use on heavier vermin at longer ranges.

Jul 1, 2009 · In fact none of the Remington ammunition I tried performed very well in the Model Five, including some Remington ‘Target’. At the time of this writing I have precisely 863 rounds through the Model Five, with three failures to extract, and no failures to fire.

Jan 18, 2009 · There’s a lot to like about the Model Five. It has a “big boy” centerfire feel with a very nicely blued 22″ barrel and an almost-flush fitting 5 shot magazine. All the parts on this rifle that should be solid steel are, including the floorplate and trigger guard.
