The non-VCT, non-turbo RB25DE was fitted to the R32 Skyline, the VCT turbo and non-turbo was fitted to R33 Skylines and the WNC34 Stagea and the Laurel C34. R34 Skyline, C35 Laurel and later Stagea (WGNC34) models use the NEO RB.

While it wasn’t a gigantic revision, it did make for more improved flow and better performance. Power actually increased on the NEO engines, despite the increased emissions technology.

Dec 9, 2004 · The rb25de neo engine unless really cheap is not worth it IMO, but that's just me. On a side note I have heard of hybrid n/a engines like the Rb30de that make like 250 hp in stock configuration with an rb25 head, something to think about.

Mar 10, 2009 · Neo has superior heads, slightly larger turbine for higher flow, different stock cams. Also has different rods and crank but neither of these are performance adders, just reliability. Maybe lighter weight for better revving.
