Never ever punish the dog with the prong collar, and be careful- pull horizontally, not vertically if wrist pop is insufficient.

Sep 28, 2014 · A prong is a training tool only do not leave it on the dog also use a light weight nylon choke type collar as a back up collar. Prongs have known to open up at the worst time the back up nylon choke type collar is only for back up.

Nov 13, 2010 · Prong collar came off once and after that I started using a leather coupler to attach the prong and backup collar (martingale) together. Couplers normally are used to walk 2 dogs on one leash but it worked very well for my purpose.

Also want some input on the Fur Saver training collars. Are they better then regular choke chain collars (I personally dont care for the choke collars)...

It works by placing even pressure around the dogs neck instead of having pressure in one spot like a choke collar. Place the collar high on the neck like a choke would sit.

Anyways, a friend suggested the prong collar, But I've heard prong collar can make reactive dog worse, anyone have had success with prong collar on reactive dog? And does prong collar tend to slide down dobie's neck too?
