The 1B's are 4 ohm nominal with a 92dB efficiency rating and the RTi12's are 8 ohm with a 90dB efficiency rating, which means the 1B's will play louder. Approximately 117db for the 1B's and 113dB for the RTi12's.

Anyway i managed to get a schematic of the rti12 xo and there are a few things in it that i dont understand such as its topography especially on the mids has me confused on exactly why polk used certain values and that the filtering doesnt seem to follow linkwitz/riley , bessel, or butterworth or even cheybyscheff architecture .

Oct 22, 2016 · One of the crossover is gone (polk sell me a new one) and the two tweeters are dead too. The original tweeters (which I can get from polk at 90$ usd a piece) are not really interresting to me. I like the rti12 but they were always too 'bright' for my liking. They are powered by a behringer '500 watt rms' pro amp.

Polk wanted 130.00 for a new tweeter for the RTi12's. It was a while back but I think I'm right. BUT. I think anybody who's had a problem with the Rti line has had a burnt ceramic resistor. My RTi8's cross-overs were different in that one didn't show any burnt anything. The other had a burnt one that I could easily see.

May 30, 2005 · I found the rti12 to be disappointing when compared to the rti8. An AVR7300 (120-130ish wpc) was running both speakers it just could not get the rti12 to perform. I have heard the suggestion that you need a powerful amp to run the rti12's but I have heard from numerous owners that 7" woofers just get it done.
