New PM1127 Lathe Setup - The Hobby-Machinist
Oct 18, 2017 · Took delivery of my new PM1127 lathe a few weeks ago. Aside from a broken crate, some minor damage to the machine, and some missing pieces lost in transit due to the open crate, it looks like a pretty decent piece of machinery. I was able to hammer out the smashed up rear splashpan. A little...
Threading question for my pm1127. | The Hobby-Machinist
Jan 29, 2017 · I need to thread a 1.5mm thread on my pm1127 lathe but I can't find what number I should use on my threading dial. Anyone have the answer? Anyone have a thread dial chart for the 1127?
Threading on a PM1127 lathe - turning instead of threading
May 16, 2019 · Does anyone have a Precision Matthews PM1127 lathe and has been threading with it? I put it on threading leadscrew, going from right to left. I've tried on A, B, C, speeds. It turns the workpiece instead of threading. I tried different depths of cut from .001 to .010. I used a carbide threading insert. I did not mess with the threading gears.
Has anyone installed Clough42's electronic leadscrew on a PM …
Sep 11, 2021 · The servo is mounted inside the lathe bed casting (this was a tight fit), and the electronics are mounted in the electric enclosure on the back of the lathe. The encoder and servo mounts are 3d printed parts. The power supply is mounted to the bottom of the bench top the lathe sits on. -Pete A couple of pictures....
PM-1127VF-LB Lathe vs PM-1228VF-LB Precision Lathe? - The …
Sep 28, 2020 · FYI, a larger, heavier lathe is just out of the question. 500 pounds is really stretching the limits as it is. I am a raw newbie hobbyist, with no real use of a lathe in mind except that I just want one for the odd times it would be handy to have, and capable of doing just about anything I am likely to come up with to do with it.
Carriage lock for a PM1127? - The Hobby-Machinist
Aug 11, 2020 · There is one. It's not obvious, but it's there. On top of the apron on the right side, there are a few hex bolts. I believe it's the one furthest from the operator, but I'm not at the lathe so I can't check. It will be loose and easy to turn, while the others are snugged down. Snug it up and you'll be locked.
Thoughts on new lathe purchase, PM1127, PM1228, or maybe …
Jul 25, 2020 · Note, I'm willing to scrape / tweak the ways slightly to get dead-nuts precision, but I want a new machine with a freshly ground bed. But I really want a new lathe to make car parts, not looking for another used lathe project. I'm thinking about either a Precession Matthews PM 1127, PM-1228VF-LB, or I'm thinking about this Bolton CQ9332A
Threading on a PM1127 lathe - turning instead of threading
May 16, 2019 · I agree with ttabbal that H must be a spacer & L means leadscrew. I don't have this lathe but my lathe is the same way, I have a spacer for the gear that drives the leadscrew that I need to reorient for metric threading. My chart doesn't show a letter or anything, it's just blank where the spacer needs to be.

May 16, 2019 · On my mini I lock the half nut and cut the thread. I stop the motor at the end of the thread. Next I put the forward/reverse switch into reverse then back out the cross slide.
Need belt for PM1127 lathe | The Hobby-Machinist
Mar 27, 2025 · I want to get a spare belt for my Precision Matthews PM1127. I emailed PM and they told me "there are 3 metric belts, 3V325, 3V328 and 3V340. One if for the motor, and the other two are for the two speed ranges on the pulleys."
