Not if you're making an app designed to manage the product from Phones especially and cameras thereafter, none of which shoot PNG. See? Perhaps Photos is not the best app for you usage scenario.

Mar 14, 2018 · Screenshots i.e pictures of the iPhone's screen, are taken in PNG format. It's a pretty universal format that all computers and most all devices understand and can display. There is no way to change this, and its always been this way. What issues are you having with PNG exactly? Photos taken with the Camera App, are in JPEG or HEIC, not PNG.

Nov 29, 2020 · While PNG was the standard for a number of generations of iOS, starting with iOS 11, the High Efficiency Image File Format became standard. It sounds like you've already gone to Settings > Camera and chosen the Most Compatible option which would result in new images being captured in JPG format.
