It was used in both summer and winter, with two skis attached in place of the wheels for winter operations.

Nov 16, 2007 · There is a Phoenix log hauler in Wabeno, WI. it is shown every year at the local show. it is neat to see run. i have a short video of it being run around, plus a few pics of it. i see it in the winter when i drive my snowmobile past it, it sits under a roof and steel link fence around it.

Three are known to be in operation, including this one, built in 1909 under license by the Phoenix Company of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for use in the forests near Wabeno, Wisconsin.

They had quite a bit of success with it. As late as 1922 they were developing a much more advanced steamer with some interesting features.
