The Palmach (Hebrew: פלמ״ח , acronym for פלוגות מחץ , Plugot Maḥatz, "Strike Phalanges/Companies") was the elite combined strike forces and sayeret unit of the Haganah, the underground army of the Yishuv (Jewish community) during the period of the British Mandate for Palestine.
