5 days ago · First a correction: PRR 60 was a long way from Etna when stored all those years. The exact location was alongside the PRR Conemaugh Div. mainline at the plant of Chemline Corp., located between Harmarville and Springdale, at a location sometimes called Acme.

5 days ago · Since it is unclear whether PRR 60 was indeed the engine seen years ago at Etna PA, I will start a new thread which may aid in future searches. Here are some pictures of PRR 60 currently stored in Hochessin, DE on the Wilmington and Western. These pictures were taken Feb 15, 2012. Pictures are low resolution. The tender came off an H6 2-8-0.

6 days ago · Yes, B6sa. Every diehard PRR steam fan knows the distinction. The history of how 60 ended up under a Turnpike bridge near Pittsburgh and then went to the Wilmington & Western in 1983 has been rehashed elsewhere. WT did use PRR-design B6sa's and C1 0-8-0s, but they were all numbered below the 40-66 of the Alco RS1s that showed up starting in 1944.

2 days ago · First off, that was a B6sa, PRR #60, now in Hockessin, Delaware after being "rescued" by the Wilmington & Western via donation in late 1982. Second, it was not "found lying in the weeds." It had been shoved up underneath a highway overpass near the Pennsylvania Turnpike after its last owner/user basically shoved it back there and "abandoned" it.

4 days ago · I recall only 60 and a caboose, but maybe an MP54 is in the lineup now. But that description more closely fits the Avondale, Pa. set owned by Brian Woodcock, former owner of AB&A 0-6-0 58 (now in W&W service), who at one time I believer was owner or part owner (see discussion on proving locomotive ownership) of "Four and a Quarter" as well.

Mar 18, 2025 · Would somebody please post a photo, or series of photos, of the B6sa that was recovered from a demolished factory in Pennsylvania? The loco is, I believe, at the W&W, but supposedly in very poor condition. In lieu of other PRR locomotives ever running again, I am wondering if she's rebuildable or even worth the investment.
